OCCI committee studies remarks on wage protection system’s application

Muscat: The Labour Market Committee of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) held its first meeting of the current year (2025) under the chairmanship of Mohammed Hassan Al A'nasi, Head of the committee.

The meeting discussed the observations of business owners on the implementation of the Wage Protection System and associated fines.

The meeting affirmed OCCI’s keenness to study the impacts of implementation of the Wage Protection System on private sector establishments.

The study of the issue, made in cooperation with the authorities concerned, seeks to reach practical solutions that consider the common interests of all parties, enhance economic growth and ensure the generation and sustainability of employment opportunities.

Through the OCCI’s official channels, the Committee reiterates its continuous monitoring of the challenges facing business owners. The panel operates in partnership with government institutions to improve the business environment and develop policies that support the national economy and contribute to the realization of the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

During the meeting, the committee discussed means of enhancing the work environment and developing the labour market in line with Oman Vision 2040. The committee reviewed the most prominent achievements it made last year, focusing on the challenges it faced and the solutions that it implemented.

The Committee also followed up its initiatives aimed at developing labour legislation and supporting the balance between employers and workers. During the meeting, the committee stressed the importance of maintaining these efforts in a manner that enhances the sustainability of the labour market in Oman.
